Sara Yate – Activity Leader

Hi there!

My name is Sara, and as some of you might be aware I’m an activity leader in Thinking Mind. Today I will be talking about my wonderful experience in the first term of the first ever E-Summer Camp! When I was first told about having an online summer camp, I couldn’t believe it at all. I was very excited but at the same time I was curious and nervous since I’ve never seen nor heard about an online summer camp! That sounded impossible for me, but then, I remembered that Thinking Mind specialty is «doing the impossible in education».

We prepared a lot as a team to bring amazing activities to you, were you could practice english and french in a really fun way and in addition an opportunity to also make new friends and learn from each other.  We had many virtual meetings full of intriguing ideas and laughs to bring you something fresh and memorable. After all of this preparations the day arrived, it was time to get to know all of the kids that were joining us on the journey and let me tell you, my expectations were exceeded.

As soon as I met all the kids during the opening ceremony my heart was happy and I was excited. At the same time I was convinced that they were going to enjoy all of the things that we had planned for them. As the camp started we revolutionised the concept of learning English, French and in an online camp. We had incredible activities such as: online wood fire, disco, excursion, international challenge and more!! I mean, have you ever seen an ONLINE wood fire and disco? I don’t think so! The kids loved this activity. This and many other kinds of fun activities challenged them to transform their perceptions of learning English and French at home.

During the camp, we had an amazing time with the kids, playing and learning, having fun, making friends and we laughed a lot. What I’ll always keep in my heart from this experience are the smiles and love from all of the kids.

Finally what I learned from this adventure is that no matter how or when, we will always bring new adventures and challenges to the kids!!!
